3. Why we use your information
We use order, contact and payment information to take steps requested before purchase, perform your contract, arrange delivery and deal with returns. We keep transaction records to comply with tax, accounting and consumer-law duties. We rely on legitimate interests where appropriate to secure the shop, prevent fraud, answer enquiries and establish or defend legal claims. Optional analytics, personalisation and advertising are used with consent where required.
Shopify and payment providers may use automated fraud indicators. An order may be held for review, but Carovalen does not make a decision producing legal or similarly significant effects solely by automated means without appropriate safeguards. Contact us to request human review of a fraud-related order decision.
4. Cookies and marketing
Essential cookies operate the basket, checkout and security features. Optional analytics and advertising technologies are activated only in accordance with the consent choices presented on the storefront. You can reject optional cookies or reopen the privacy preferences control on the site. Blocking essential cookies may affect checkout.
We send marketing where you consent or where the UK existing-customer exception lawfully applies. Every marketing message includes an opt-out. You may object to direct marketing at any time by using the unsubscribe link or emailing us.
5. Who receives information
We share only the information needed for the relevant task with Shopify; payment providers shown at checkout; our suppliers and fulfilment partners; postal, courier and tracking providers; customer-service, email, analytics, advertising, security and IT providers; and professional advisers or authorities where necessary and lawful. Some providers act on our instructions and others act as independent controllers under their own privacy notices.
6. International processing
We are based in the Netherlands. Information may also be processed in the United Kingdom, the EEA, China and other countries where Shopify or our service providers operate. Where UK data protection law restricts a transfer, we use an applicable adequacy regulation or appropriate contractual safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum, together with any necessary assessment and supplementary measures.
7. Retention and security
We retain information only for as long as necessary for the relevant order, service, legal record-keeping requirement, complaint or claims period. We then delete or anonymise it unless lawful preservation is required. We use proportionate technical and organisational safeguards and restrict access to those who need it.
8. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability; withdraw consent; or object to processing based on legitimate interests or to direct marketing. Email support@carovalen.com. We may request proportionate proof of identity and normally respond within one calendar month, subject to lawful extensions.
9. Complaints
Please contact us first so we can investigate. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or, where applicable, the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
10. Children and external links
The shop is intended for adults and is not directed at children. Third-party websites have their own privacy arrangements; review their notices before supplying information.

Optional parcel tracking
Our Track Your Order page offers an optional link to the independent tracking service 17TRACK. You can instead use the carrier's tracking link in your dispatch email. The external tracking service processes information under its own privacy notice.
